Consumer Health Data Privacy Notice
Effective date: July 24, 2026 · Last updated: July 24, 2026
This Notice supplements our Privacy Policy and describes how Lantern collects, uses, and shares consumer health data — information that identifies a person and relates to their past, present, or future physical or mental health status — including as defined by the Washington My Health My Data Act, Nevada SB 370, and similar consumer health privacy laws. It applies to Caregivers and, importantly, to Elders, whose health-related data is typically provided by family members with the Elder’s consent or their representative’s lawful authority.
1. Categories of consumer health data we collect
- Care records: medication lists, schedules, and dose confirmations; vitals entries (for example blood pressure or weight, as the family tracks them); meal and nutrition notes; appointments; and care-coordination notes.
- Daily-functioning signals: home activity events (fridge/door contacts, motion by room, smart-plug use, optional bed-occupancy mat) and patterns derived from them, when the family connects sensors.
- Check-in and call data: answered/missed calls, and — with the consents our Terms require — transcripts of AI check-in calls including self-reported sleep, meals, medications, and mood.
- Care and support usage: the fact of using services such as rides, meal delivery, home care, or telehealth (not the content of any clinical encounter).
- Social-connection and presence data: check-ins, visits (with opt-in member location at check-in), and family-coverage patterns.
- Health inferences: baselines, anomaly flags, trends, digests, summaries, and any composite wellbeing measures — inferences about daily functioning and independence.
We do not collect biometric identifiers (such as fingerprints or face geometry; passkey biometrics stay on your device), genetic data, or reproductive or sexual health data. Home-signal sensors are presence and activity sensors — not video feeds; video appears only in call features under the Elder’s control, and recordings or transcriptions happen only with required consents.
2. Sources
- You and other members of the Care Circle (profiles, care records, logs, check-ins).
- The Elder themselves (call answers, “I’m OK” responses, their own entries).
- Sensors and third-party integrations your family connects (event data you authorize).
- Our systems, which derive insights from the above.
3. Why we collect and use it
- To provide the Service the family asked for: the shared care space, baselines, insights, alerts, digests, and scheduled check-ins.
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the Service.
- To comply with law and protect the safety and rights of users and Elders.
We do not sell consumer health data. We do not use consumer health data for advertising. We do not process consumer health data for purposes beyond those above without your consent.
4. Who can access consumer health data
- The Care Circle for the relevant Elder — under the roles and per-module permissions the family configures, resting on the Elder’s consent. The Elder can see their own information.
- Processors / service providers operating under contracts restricting their use of the data (categories: cloud hosting and database, email delivery, AI speech/transcription/summarization — configured not to train on your content — telephony, security and error monitoring, and analytics).
- Authorities or other parties where required or permitted by law, including to prevent serious harm or report suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a vulnerable adult.
We do not share consumer health data with affiliates for their own use, and we will not sell consumer health data. Any future sale (which we do not intend) would require the valid signed authorization the law demands, separate from this Notice.
5. Consent and withdrawal
Collection of an Elder’s health data through the Service rests on their informed consent or their legal representative’s authority — see the Elder Notice & Consent. Consent may be withdrawn at any time, by the Elder or their representative, by contacting us or asking the primary Caregiver to remove the Elder’s space; withdrawal stops collection going forward.
6. Your rights
Subject to verification, you (whether Caregiver or Elder) may:
- confirm whether we collect, share, or process your consumer health data and access it, including a list of third parties with whom we have shared it;
- withdraw consent to collection or sharing;
- request deletion of your consumer health data (we will also instruct our processors to delete it, honoring statutory timelines, including for backups); and
- appeal a refusal by replying to our decision; if your appeal is unsuccessful, you may contact your state Attorney General (for Washington residents: www.atg.wa.gov).
Exercise any right by emailing sardoru@gmail.com with the subject “Health Data Request.” We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
